Allergy Information

WE ARE A NUT FREE CENTRE **

Approximately 1 in 10 children experience an allergy or food intolerance before age 5. Some allergies can be outgrown and some are life threatening and persist to adult life. Common allergies in preschool children include nuts, egg, dairy & seafood. North Epping Kindergarten mitigates exposure to high risk allergens in our preschool by asking families to not include any Nuts or Nut products in preschool morning tea or lunch boxes.

We may also ask families to not bring other food items in preschool morning tea/lunch boxes where we are aware of a child with a high-risk allergy to another food item in the class.

We do not share or swap food at preschool.

Children who have a diagnosed allergy or anaphylaxis need to provide us with their child’s health plan. An example of these are below.

Examples Of Allergy & Anaphylaxis & Asthma Plans

All children who have indicated that they have an allergy or have a diagnosis for an allergy or anaphylaxis are asked to provide a medical management plan. Below are examples of these plans.

You may need to review your child’s plan and have it updated with your GP. If you have one of these please provide us with a copy. Educators will discuss your child’s health needs with you and together we will agree a risk minimisation and communication plan for preschool.
