There is a yellow building with graffiti on a blackboard surface, and the ground is a mix of pavement, sand, and artificial grass.

Program

We follow the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia
Belonging, Being & Becoming

Every day is different at preschool

Our program is designed to support the whole child — their curiosity, creativity, relationships, and well-being. We follow the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia – Belonging, Being & Becoming, using it as a guide to plan meaningful, play-based experiences that help children grow in confidence, independence, and joy. Each day is carefully structured to balance exploration and routine, with both indoor and outdoor learning that responds to children’s interests and developmental needs.

Our Daily Program

At North Epping Kindergarten, our educators plan each part of the children’s day to develop and build independence, collaboration and problem solving skills to nurture your child’s whole development.

A typical day at North Epping Kindergarten includes:

Child-led exploration
Children enjoy long periods of unhurried, self-directed play, both indoors and outdoors. Our educators thoughtfully set up engaging spaces where children can explore:

  • Art and craft

  • Construction and puzzles

  • Dramatic play

  • Sand and water play

  • Climbing and physical challenges

Small group experiences led by educators
At various times during the day, children join small groups for experiences that support language, numeracy, and creativity, such as:

  • Music and movement

  • Storytelling and drama

  • Cooking

  • Science and nature exploration

Indoor and outdoor learning
We value both indoor and outdoor environments equally, and children flow between these spaces throughout the day, following their interests.

Rest and reflection time
We provide a calm space each day for children to rest, reflect, or engage in quiet activities according to their needs.

Communication with Families

  • We believe in keeping families informed and involved.

  • We share regular updates through our secure online app, Storypark, including photos, stories, and insights into your child’s learning and development.

  • Learning experiences and children’s work are displayed throughout our classroom and outdoor spaces.

  • Families are always encouraged to provide feedback or share ideas in person or via Storypark.

Each Day At Preschool Your Child Will Need

  • Morning tea and lunch packed in separate containers (cooler lunch-bags are not necessary, all food is refrigerated).

  • A water bottle – enough for the whole day.

  • A fabric library bag (approx. 35x50cms), for borrowing a library book from us.

  • A set of sheets-to fit our daybeds approx. 56x132cm with a fitted bottom sheet (cot sheets fit). They need a matching drawstring bag for storage during the day (only needed if you feel your child may need a rest during the preschool day).

  • A spare set of clothes-consistent with the weather.

  • A backpack – one that is easy for your child to open and big enough to hold all their belongings.

    We provide each child with:

  • A wide brimmed hat to be kept and worn at kindy.

  • A washable wet bag for taking wet/soiled clothing items home. Please put in your child’s backpack for each day of kindy.

  • A roll-on sunscreen for your child’s personal use. Please apply sunscreen prior to arrival

ALL ITEMS MUST BE CLEARLY NAMED, INCLUDING SHOES AND SOCKS
